Rep. Sharice Davids was raised by a single mother who served in the U.S. Army and became the first in her family to attend college. She earned degrees through Johnson County Community College, the University of Missouri–Kansas City, and Cornell Law School. Before Congress, she worked in economic development, including work with Native American communities and service as a White House Fellow. She was elected to Congress in 2018 and has since become a leading Democratic voice in Kansas politics.
