Rep. Sean Casten was born in Dublin, Ireland, and he grew up in New York. He studied molecular biology and biochemical engineering before working as a scientist and clean energy executive. Prior to Congress, he co-founded energy technology companies focused on recycling wasted energy and reducing emissions. He was elected to Congress in 2018 and has served since 2019, where he has become a leading voice on climate policy and financial regulation.
