Scott Colom is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Mississippi and has served as District Attorney for the state’s 16th Judicial District since 2015. A seventh-generation Mississippian, he grew up in Columbus and has worked as a prosecutor, judge, and attorney. He was the first Black person elected district attorney in the district and has focused on prosecuting violent crime while supporting rehabilitation programs for some nonviolent offenders. Colom launched his Senate campaign in 2025, emphasizing lower costs, health care, jobs, rural hospitals, and government ethics.
