Rep. Sarah McBride is a Democratic politician and LGBTQ rights advocate serving as Delaware’s at-large U.S. Representative. Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, she became nationally known through her advocacy work with the Human Rights Campaign before entering elected office. She later served in the Delaware State Senate, where she helped pass major legislation expanding paid family leave and strengthening healthcare and social safety net programs. In 2024, she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, becoming the first openly transgender member of Congress.
