Sen. Mark Warner is a Democratic U.S. Senator from Virginia. Before entering public office, he worked as a telecommunications entrepreneur and investor, helping build a cellular company that contributed to the formation of Nextel. He later entered politics, serving as Chair of the Democratic Party of Virginia before being elected Governor in 2001. As governor, he is credited with improving Virginia’s fiscal standing and strengthening its education system through bipartisan budget reforms. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2008 and has served since 2009, where he has become a senior voice on intelligence, economic policy, technology regulation, and bipartisan fiscal reform.
