Marcy Kaptur is the longest-serving woman in the history of the U.S House of Representatives and is the first female Chair of the House’s Energy and Water Appropriations Committee. During her time in Congress, Kaptur has dedicated herself to environmental protection by securing funding from the EPA to clean up waste sites and establish the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. A strong supporter of Middle East peace, she directed the first surplus farm commodities in 1999 to support the peace process in Lebanon, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.
