Before Congress, she spent nearly two decades working as a pediatrician in the Seattle-area medical system, including treating children and families across both suburban and rural communities. She was elected to Congress in 2018, becoming the first pediatrician ever to serve in the U.S. House. Since taking office, she has focused heavily on healthcare policy, public health preparedness, and protecting access to medical care, particularly for children and families.
