Juliana Stratton is an American politician and attorney who has served as Lieutenant Governor of Illinois since 2019. She was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago and began her career in community leadership and legal advocacy, including work as a mediator and restorative justice practitioner. She entered elected office in 2017 as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives before becoming Illinois’ first Black woman lieutenant governor.
In 2025, she launched a campaign for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Dick Durbin and went on to win the Democratic nomination in 2026, positioning her as the party’s nominee in the general election.
