Rep. Jared Huffman is a Democratic politician and attorney from California. Before Congress, he worked as a public interest environmental lawyer, including as Senior Attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, where he helped lead major water restoration efforts. He also served for over a decade in local government on the Marin Municipal Water District board before being elected to the California State Assembly in 2006. In the state legislature, he authored major environmental and energy efficiency laws and chaired the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee. He was elected to Congress in 2012 and has since become a leading voice on environmental policy, climate resilience, and public lands protection. In Congress, he has focused heavily on ocean conservation, wildfire resilience, clean energy, and federal land management, while also playing a prominent role in Democratic committee leadership.
