JAC Statement on the Violence in Charlottesville - We Will Not Be Silent

"We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."

-- Elie Wiesel

The horrific events in Charlottesville this past weekend remind us again of the devastating consequences of hatred. Such actions threaten all of us. For the last 30 years, JAC has been monitoring, raising awareness of, and fighting discrimination and hate groups. We have watched their resurgence and have continually spoken out against them.

We offer our thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families, and we wholeheartedly condemn the rise of racism and neo-Nazism, as well as the violence and bigotry they promote. We refuse to let hatred define our country and our future - and we refuse to be silent.
