JAC is proud to be supporting Mandela Barnes in the Senate race in Wisconsin to unseat GOP Sen. Ron Johnson. This will be one of the the most closely watched Senate races in the country. Barnes would become Wisconsin’s first Black senator, if elected.
JAC has directly given Barnes $5,000 and will be presenting him another $5,000 on Aug. 30th in the Chicago area. We need to raise another $10,000 from JAC members so that Barnes can be competitive in this race. DONATE HERE.

The two-term GOP incumbent, backed by former President Donald Trump, is the only Republican senator running for reelection in a state that President Joe Biden won in 2020. Millions in untraceable dark money is expected to pour into the state from the far right. The GOP is desperate to hang on to this seat so that it can get a further foothold in the Senate.
Johnson has called the overturning of Roe v. Wade a thing of “beauty.”
He said ”women get pregnant, and God bless them for getting pregnant. We need to populate our Earth.”
Barnes will work to make birth control widely available and codify Roe v Wade. He would vote to abolish the filibuster so that it would only take 51 votes to pass legislation. “We need to take immediate action to protect every person’s right to make decisions about their own bodies.”
He understands first hand the critical need women have to make their own health care choices. His mother had a complicated pregnancy that had to be terminated. “I just can’t even think of how, what life would have been like for her had she been forced to carry that, to go to term in that situation."
As a Senator, Barnes would support bans on ghost guns, assault weapons, and high-capacity magazines. He would also support other common sense gun laws.
