Mike Quigley began his career serving as an aide to former 44th Ward Alderman Bernie Hansen and became a champion for environmental protection, equal rights, and ethical, open government. During his time on the Cook County Board of Commissioners, Quigley fought for transparency, accountability, and fiscal sanity, earning the reputation as an honest and effective leader on reform. He sponsored every piece of major environmental legislation adopted by Cook County government and still regularly participates in local clean-up and restoration efforts, earning him awards from the Audubon Society and the Sierra Club. About The Candidate
Rep. Quigley is often commended for his words and actions in pursuit of a government that is fair, transparent and works for everyone. He is a powerful voice for women -- whether defending their right to choose or fighting against domestic abuse. He has been vocal in his fight for gun rights in the city of Chicago where too many are gunned down on the streets. He has appreciated his trips to Israel and gained an understanding of the issues that has led to a perfect pro-Israel voting record. When Quigley visited Auschwitz-Birkenau in 2010 he said, "I left with a renewed commitment to the future of the state of Israel and a far more complete understanding of what it means to never forget what happened inside those walls." Rep. Quiqley means what he says and JAC has found a true friend in the 5th district.
