November 21, 2011 Please call the White House and urge the President to protect women's access to contraception. Ask the President to reject legislative attempts to amend the health care law that would expand an employer's right to refuse to offer contraceptive coverage in their employees' health care plans.
White House Switchboard 202.456.1111 BACKGROUND Anti-choice activists are fighting government support for family planning in the new health care law. The Catholic Church and other religious organizations are involved in the effort to pressure the Obama administration to allow employers to opt out of offering contraceptive coverage to their employees on the basis of religious objection. Expanding the refusal clause jeopardizes women's health and women's lives. Health, economic security and religious liberty are at stake. All women, no matter what the religious beliefs of their employers, deserve access to health care coverage that includes contraceptives. Inclusion of contraception in health care plans is more than a woman's right, it is good public policy.
